We are currently running several pilot sites for Soter.
Soter is a doorstep assistant installed near the front door. It may speak with visitors, ask why they are there, collect information about the visit, and notify the participant or a trusted contact.
Soter uses AI and cloud computing to assist the occupants with their door. Audio and video recordings are not saved, but still images, text summaries and visitor logs are temporarily kept to support the Soter pilot.
What the pilot is testing?
The pilot is testing whether Soter helps people manage front-door interactions with more safety, confidence, independence, dignity and control.
Small print
Camera and microphone input may be used during visitor interactions so Soter can work, but Intermentis does not save audio recordings or video recordings from pilot homes.
During the pilot, Intermentis and Soter may collect or create participant, household, contact, accessibility and support information; feedback, interviews, surveys, check-in notes and support requests; still doorway images or image frames; text transcripts; AI-generated descriptions and summaries; visitor/event logs; notification history; app responses; technical logs; installation photos; consent records; project records; and evaluation notes. This may include information about visitors and other people who come to the door. Intermentis will take all reasonable steps to protect pilot information and limit access to those who need it.
Cloud and AI services may process audio input, images, text, transcripts, summaries and logs so Soter can operate. AI can be wrong, incomplete, delayed or unclear. Intermentis will configure services so pilot data is not used by third-party providers to train their own public models. Intermentis will not knowingly allow identifiable pilot data to be used to train public AI models without further consent.
Long-term use of pilot information is a condition of taking part. Intermentis may keep pilot information for as long as reasonably needed to run and support the pilot, troubleshoot and improve Soter, evaluate accessibility outcomes, prepare reports, research papers, publications, presentations or future evidence, and meet legal, privacy, safety, insurance, contract, reporting, business or dispute requirements.
Where practical, information used for reporting, research, publication, product learning and wider sharing will be de-identified or anonymised. De-identified or anonymised findings, datasets, summaries, statistics, learnings and research outputs may be kept indefinitely.
The participant or household can ask what personal information is held about them and can ask for correction or deletion where practical. Deletion may not be possible where information has already been de-identified, anonymised, included in analysis or reporting, or where Intermentis reasonably needs to keep it for the purposes above. If the participant or household is not comfortable with long-term retention, they should not take part in the live pilot.
