For organisations

Doorstep visibility across the people you support

Soter has been tested in pilot households. We're now turning those learnings into a reliable commercial V1 for organisations supporting older adults and people with disabilities, targeted for the first half of 2027.

The accessibility chain

Doorstep interactions are a chain of events. The front door asks people to:

NOTICE

someone is there

ACCESS

the door

WORK OUT WHO

the visitor is

WORK OUT WHY

they are calling

DECIDE

what should happen next

RESPOND

appropriately

And people must complete all six steps before the visitor leaves. Every step must be accessible, not just the doorbell.

How Soter works

At the door

Caller arrives

When someone approaches the door, Soter greets them politely and asks who they are and why they are visiting — in natural spoken conversation. Visitors do not need to press a button, read instructions, or know anything about the household. They just talk, the way they would to a person.

A courier in a hurry gets a quick, clear interaction. A support worker enrolled by the household can be recognised and welcomed. A stranger is asked, calmly and consistently, to explain themselves — something many occupants find hard to do through a chained door.

Visitor checked

Smart identification

Soter checks the visitor against expected appointments, configured PINs, consented known-visitor profiles, and the household's regular schedule. A match gives Soter context about who may be at the door and what verification the household requires.

If no match is found, the visitor remains unknown. Soter records the name, organisation, and purpose they provide so the household's policy can decide how cautiously to proceed.

Visit managed

Interaction managed

Once the visitor has been checked, Soter applies the household's rules. It can give a courier delivery instructions, welcome an expected visitor, ask an occupant or trusted contact for a decision, or politely turn an unexpected caller away without asking the occupant to come to the door.

Routine visits can be completed from start to finish without interrupting the person inside.

Right person informed

Occupant or trusted contacts notified

When a visit needs a human decision, the right person hears about it — with context. Alerts say who came, what they wanted, and what Soter has done so far, so an occupant or trusted contact can respond usefully from wherever they are.

Alerts can escalate to nominated contacts if the first person is unavailable, and every visit is added to the shared history with its time, purpose, and outcome.

Doorstep management at scale

Resident by resident

Household-level visibility

Each deployed unit can be configured around the resident and household it supports, including which visits matter and which nominated staff or family members receive alerts. Visit records provide a factual history when a team needs to understand what happened at the door.

Visibility is scoped by role and by household consent, so teams see what they need for care and operations — and nothing more. Residents keep their privacy; providers keep their oversight.

The right people, at the right time

Verified access workflows

Soter establishes who is at the door before anyone is let in. Scheduled support workers, contractors with an appointment, and regular services can be recognised and checked against the expected visit, with alerts routed to the people nominated by the household.

Unexpected callers are screened through conversation instead of being left to knock. The resident, their family, or your team decides what happens next, and every decision is recorded.

Audit-ready

Operational records

Every doorstep interaction is recorded automatically with its time, purpose, and outcome — entry records that build themselves, without asking staff to fill anything in at the door. Missed care visits, failed deliveries, and unknown callers stop being invisible.

For providers, that supports compliance reporting, incident review, and care coordination from a factual record rather than recollections — and gives managers an honest picture of what is happening at the doors they are responsible for.

When a door needs attention

Door and exit alerts

Soter can alert nominated staff or family when a door is left open or an exit may need attention, according to the household's configuration.

These alerts are intended for households where wandering or an open door is a safety risk, and remain subject to resident consent and organisational policy.
